Donate goods

Individuals and businesses are valued goods donations partners

You Matter relies on donated household items that are either new or in good used condition. Before offering your items, please take a moment to understand what we can and cannot accept.

Items we CAN accept:

  • Small dining tables (2-4 persons) and dining chairs
  • Small sofas (maximum length 2m) – no modular units or chaise lounges
  • Armchairs
  • Coffee and side tables
  • Televisions and television cabinets
  • Desks and desk chairs
  • Small bookcases
  • Floor rugs
  • Single, King single, Double and Queen mattresses and bed bases
  • Ben linen of the above sizes (preferably new or as new)
  • Bedside tables and dressing tables
  • Towels and kitchen linen (new or as new)
  • Kitchen cutlery, crockery, cookware and utensils
  • Toys, books and decorator items (cushions, vases, throws, wall hangings, etc)
  • Floor and table lamps*
  • Small electrical items including microwaves, kettles, toasters, irons, heater, fans, etc*

* NOTE: Used electrical appliances must be tested and tagged by You Matter in accordance with Australian standards – we appreciate it if you can contribute funds towards the testing and tagging of your item.

Items we CANNOT accept:

  • Clothing, shoes and accessories
  • Fridges, washing machines or clothes dryers
  • Glass furniture
  • King beds, mattresses or linen
  • Used laptops, desktop computers or gaming consoles
  • Poor quality, dirty or damaged items

Individuals wishing to donate goods

If you have items to donate, please email us at donategoods@youmatter.org.au and provide us with the following details:

  • Description of goods
  • Photos of the item/s
  • Dimensions (where applicable)
  • Are you able to transport the goods to our warehouse in Abbotsford?
  • If you cannot deliver the goods to us, suburb of collection
  • When would you ideally like to deliver or have the goods collected? (NOTE: we rely on volunteers to collect all donations. There may be a waiting period before we are next in your area.)

Business goods partnerships

If your business has surplus inventory, sample stock, returned items, shop marked, ex-display or unsaleable stock, then we can distribute these goods to families in need.
